Set in an amazing gated community surrounded by greenery, this beautiful house in Nairobi, Kenya needed an update.

The brief was to create a contemporary home with touches of African and Moroccon touches. Rich, dark hardwood flooring was installed throughtout the house apart from all the wet areas. This gave a great base for the classic contemporary furniture which was interspersed with ethnic touches. Some of the windows had walnut shutters to create privacy whilst the large glass sliding doors had Silentgliss bronze Metropoles with Wave headed sheers from Casamance to create a textured, netural background. The bespoke upholstored sofas were made by The Sofa and Chair Company and Robert Langford using textured fabrics from Zinc and Harlequin. We even managed to incorporate a Herman Miller Eames lounge chair and ottoman that the client always wanted.

Most of the bathroom and cloakroom had 'Tadelakt' a waterproof plaster on the walls to create a Moroccoan feel. All the bathroom cabinetry was created by artisinal woodworkers and metal workers as was the grand staircase. To add to the Moroccan feel, we sourced beautiful lights from the Moroccan Bazaar.

Throught the project, we sourced unique objects to add personality to the rooms like the wooden African sculpures and the Juju hat wall decor.

The project involved working online with the clients and travelling out to Kenya to source materials and artisinal tradespeople.
